Even though this poem only consists of one line, it is full of imagery and color. I really enjoyed this haiku because it seems to be performing many functions at once. It is employing the technique of contrast and comparison simultaneously because the dragonfly is being likened to the sky's radiance and blue hue. However, the dragonfly is unlike the sky because it's blue color is more vivid and radiant than that of the sky's and it is a creature capable of moving (being in the sky and on the ground) while the sky is stationary. Next, the sky's permanence makes it different from the insect because the sky does not die but the dragonfly does. Again, I found a lot of meaning in this one haiku and it makes me appreciate the beauty in all living things.
